In this project, a prototype wearable system for integration into technical garments was hypothesized and constructed to provide initial information as to its potential feasibility. Data for twelve data points was passively gathered on 500-millisecond intervals while the wearer was doing some birdwatching in California. Numerous sampling sessions were all logged to the same comma-separated text file. Once sampling sessions were finished, the text file was transcoded using spreadsheet software and made available for use as metadata for a larger research assignment. The results of this project have potentially significant implications for the application of this technology for use by scientific researchers, citizen-scientists, wilderness patrollers, first responders, and even everyday consumers.
